Monica PAOLINI began studying classical guitar at the age of ten with
Armando MARROSU,under whose guidance she received her school leaving diploma
in Sassari in 1985. The following year a regional grant allowed her to
follow aspecialization course with the Spanish Alberto PONCE at the Ecole
Normale de Musique "Alfred CORTOT". Here Monica received the"Diplome Supérieur
d'Exécution" and the prestigious "Diplome Supérieur de Concertisme". At
the same time she followed a course taught by Javier HINOJOSA, deepening
her knowledge of renaissance and baroque music. In 1990 she won first
prize in the international competition "Ville de Carpentras" and first
prize in "Certamen International Francisco Tarrega" in Benicàsim,Spain,
in 1992 she was runner-up in the international competition "Città di Alessandria",
three of the most important guitar contests at the international level.
Monica also wrote,directed and presented a programme for the RAI (radiotelevisione
italiana),dedicated entirely to the guitar and its repertoire. She has
given concerts in several european countries (Italy,France,Spain,Portugal
and Switzerland) both as a soloist and in chamber music, receiving considerable
critical acclaim. She has recorded a CD including works from 20th century
Spain (Turina, Ruiz-Pipo, Pujol, Llobet, Tarrega, Salvador). She teaches
at the conservatory "Venezze" in Rovigo (Italy).
