Black Lives Matter

Opera Nova mourns with the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and the countless other victims of systemic racism and violence. We stand together with you against racial injustice, senseless violence, and oppression.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights sets forth in Article 27 an inalienable human right to freely participate in the cultural life of the community. As with other “inalienable rights (e.g. to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness) comes a responsibility to cherish.
Opera NOVA’s passion is to use the arts to build the community so that the performing and visual arts are not considered a luxury or a frivolous matter but rather an expression of the unity and soul of our community. Opera NOVA’s job is to acknowledge opera ‘s beautiful music as Martin Luther noted as one of “the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us”
and share it with the entire community.
Be one with us and make Opera NOVA a participatory community opera company. It belongs to the community and it belongs to you.
