
Opera NOVA invites young people from age 12 to 18 to try out for its
Summer Institute
to be held in Arlington July 22-28
The week includes intensive opera training and education in
acting, diction, ear training/theory, music history, voice
lessons and movement. It will be followed by a performance
on July 28 at 1 p.m. at the Woman’s Club of Arlington.
The institute is supported by a grant from the Mars Foundation.
Top-notch faculty will run the institute at the Woman's Club, 700 S. Buchanan St., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Cost is $250, with financial aid available. Instructors include opera veterans Jose Sacin, Alex Alburqueque, Eduardo Castro and Cara Gonzalez

Opera NOVA is an Arlington-based nonprofit that produces an opera for 3,000 school children every year and concerts for underserved communities and those who have little exposure to opera in northern Virginia.
